What SCADA Is: SCADA is a computer system that helps people watch over and control large operations—like power plants or water systems—from one central place. It collects data from machines and sensors and shows what’s happening in real time.
Why It Matters in Energy: In the energy world, SCADA keeps electricity flowing safely and smoothly. It lets operators spot problems early, fix outages faster, and make sure power from different sources—like solar, wind, and gas—works together efficiently.
What IA Did:
1.Did full JTA and Dacum with industry experts to build full 3 credit (6 module course) matching KSAs. Course was module for full or partial adoption. (link to this)
2.Built affordable (open-source) labs with custom Raspberry Pi interface (avoiding IT integration challenges)
3.Recruited and trained 80+ faculty across nation and providing free kits to each (sponsored by NextEra)
4. Published results in JTA article (paper is attached)
5. Expanded training into marine, wastewater, environmental science and building construction fields in conjunction with ATE Centers CREATE and EARTh
